A sale of KY Power was announced on October 26, 2021 to Liberty Utilities and is pending regulatory approval. If/when approved, this position will be included in the sale. The employee occupying this position will become an employee of Liberty Utilities. If hire/rehire occurs of this position prior to regulatory approval, the successful candidate will be an employee of AEP/KY Power and then transferred as part of the sale agreement. If the hire/rehire occurs after regulatory approval is obtained, Liberty Utilities will take over hiring responsibility for this position and the successful candidate will never be considered an employee of AEP/KY Power.


The Telecommunications Technician will perform, with intermediate supervision and clearly defined procedures, moderate level installation, maintenance and repair of various Telecommunications related equipment, using accepted practices and procedures. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and produce required documentation. Work to gain knowledge and understanding of various Telecommunications technologies and business processes. Provide assistance to others when required or as needed. Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures. Exhibit a positive, collaborative attitude working in a team environment. Must be accountable for one's own work and advancement. All above activities will be performed with an emphasis on safety for yourself and others. Perform intermediate level installation, maintenance and repair of various Telecommunications related equipment. Perform intermediate level troubleshooting and system testing, and produce required documentation. Utilize telecommunications knowledge gained to assist others in a technical discipline. Focus on learning and advancing present levels of competency in required technical disciplines. Understand Telecommunications business unit and customer requirements. Adapt to changing work schedules and priorities. Perform required entries into database and record keeping systems for work and asset tracking.

Requirements

Telecomm Technician:
 

Education: Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or, technical degree or certificate in related field Or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of related experience. Experience: Two years technical or related field (In addition to any experience identified above).

Physical Demand Level - Heavy

Telecomm Technician Sr.:

Education: Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Technical Degree/Certificate in related field  Or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of related experience. Experience: Four years technical or related field (in addition to any experience identified above)

License/Certifications: Maintain a valid driver license at all times. Driving of company vehicles is required including city, highway and off -road travel as necessary.
