Job Summary
Urban Grid is seeking a Controller who will play a unique and pivotal role by providing leadership to the Finance and Accounting team and partnering with the leadership team to manage the company’s finance operations through processes and controls. The Controller will be reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will provide higher levels of operational discipline through systematic reporting and governance.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Provide financial infrastructure to support the Company through high growth
- Manage accounting daily activities and finance operations and develop plans for driving efficiency and automation
- Own the financial close process and all associated activity to deliver accurate and timely results reporting to management and Corporate reporting
- Develop the team’s capabilities across the range of sub-functions: general ledger, tax, treasury, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, audit and legal
- Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP and IFRS
- Responsible for managing the company’s cash position, reviewing the weekly cash analysis and payment list
- Develop, implement, and maintain the internal systems and financial controls consistent with the Company’s policies and regulatory guidelines, ensuring compliance with all tax and corporate requirements and filings
- Understand and document reporting needs, collaborate on operational issues, develop creative solutions, and provide business guidance and insight through financial reporting
- Lead process improvement and automation across all areas of accounting and finance
- Partner with auditors to ensure regulatory compliance and U.S. GAAP reporting partner to migrate accounting from income tax reporting to GAAP-compliant reporting, standardizing methods and ensuring consistency
- Manage development expenditures including waterfall accounts, department-level budgets, and measure forecasts for cash calls
- 7-10 Years of experience required as a Controller or Sr. Accountant, and as licensed CPA
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred
- Strong General Ledger experience
- Finance strategy development
- Proven track record of building strong teams and leading/influencing others through highly cross-functional projects
- Experience in analysis, forecasting, and budgeting in a high growth environment
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Experience in ERP system implementation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with Sarbanes Oxley reporting. Knowledge of IFRS reporting is a plus
- Hands-on / can-do mentality
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills required
- Ability to think and work independently, effectively, and efficiently as if running your own business.
- 7-10 Years of experience required as a Controller or Sr. Accountant, and as licensed CPA
