Job Description
Our client is an international Commodities trading firm looking for a Gas Scheduler / Operator.
This role has prime responsibility to ensure all physical gas and power flows are properly nominated/notified, have all necessary transportation arrangements in place and are consistent with our trade positions. Ensuring that the gas and power business’s physical positions are in balance with the relevant TSO is also of prime importance.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Make timely and accurate nominations/notifications to TSOs and SSOs to ensure the smooth delivery of physical gas and power positions
· Liaise with 3rd party operations support providers to ensure smooth hand-over and hand-back of our physical operations
· Trade on relevant markets to correct any physical gas/power imbalances
· Book transport capacities with TSOs to facilitate physical trade flows
· Implement arrangements with TSOs to facilitate entry into new gas and power markets
· Advise colleagues on logistical matters to enable execution of physical structured trades
· Leverage industry network to identify trade ideas arising from specific logistical circumstances
· Assists and executes orders on exchange and OTC.
· Maintains communication with middle office, back office and assists in resolving any settlement problems.
· Ensures all trades are booked to front office position keeping system on the day they are executed.
· Reconciles daily and/or monthly reports, as assigned.
· Provides daily market information to be disseminated Internally and externally.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Math and/or related field.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical skills.
· Organized and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to follow up to meet deadlines.
· Experience with Pipeline gas trading, scheduling and trading operations beneficial
· Must have demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively, and long-term desire to develop into a senior trader
· Excellent Communication skills
Minimum Experience:
2 years with Oil and/or Gas Trading desk
Strong Excel Skills – VBA and Python highly desirable
Highly analytical and methodical approach in prior role(s)
