Job Description

Position Purpose

The Paycom Senior Attorney, Payment Services is a high performing senior individual on the legal team.  The Senior Attorney acts as a mentor for attorneys and partners closely with the department leadership to provide legal counsel to the Paycom business.  This role works directly with the Company’s product management department and other internal stakeholders as the primary contributor of legal advice for card payment services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and support on organizational legal issues specifically related to the implementation and ongoing compliance with a card payments product.
  • Manage, review and oversee the ongoing compliance of key program vendors including the reporting and communications between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and implement relevant policies and procedures and effective training for company employees.
  • Review and counsel on all marketing and advertisement materials and cardholder communications.
  • Act as the Company’s designated card program compliance officer.
  • Understands and communicate to internal stakeholders relevant laws and regulations, including all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, that impact the card payment program.
  • Understands broader set of issues outside of discipline, looks horizontally and vertically to consider multiple job areas, and draws from experience to formulate defense or initiate legal actions.
  • Manage and provide counsel for the ongoing compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.  
  • Collaborate with senior Legal team members.
  • Advises business on best practices to minimize legal risk and reduce liability.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:     

  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent from an accredited law school required.

Experience Required:

  • Admission to Oklahoma Bar in good standing.
  • 4+ years legal experience.

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in advising on Regulation E, the Bank Secrecy Act, and Gramm Leach Bliley Act preferred.
  • Experience in developing Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer programs for a financial services company or financial institution preferred.
  • In-house experience in a high growth company preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform legal research and detailed analysis
  • High level of EQ with the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of employees including senior leadership
  • Highly developed executive presence and confidence in public speaking
  • Demonstrated ability to work easily and effectively cross-departmentally with a wide range of people practicing leadership, influence, and motivation
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • A strong work ethic, be willing to work flexible hours including nights/weekends and travel to events as needed
